The 149th winner of the 1000 Guineas, held on Thursday 3rd May 1962 over the Rowley Mile, was Abermaid (100/6), a grey filly by Abernant out of Dairymaid, owned by Mr Roderic More O'Ferrall. The winner won by 1/2 a length in 1 minute 39.36 secs, with 3/4 length back to the third. A field of 14 runners contested the race which was worth £21,597 (Equivalent to £442,700 in 2017)
